No Mom Left Behind – A Guide to Gifting all the Mothers in your Life
We’ve gotten some questions lately, like, what piece of jewelry might be good to give a pregnant mom? Or, any ideas for a grandmother who doesn’t wear rings any more?
When it comes to Mother’s Day, you may end up gifting more than just one woman.
Moms love knowing you picked something out for a reason that has to do with your observant knowledge of her tastes and quirks, so be sure to tell her those reasons!
A few jewelry gift ideas are provided below.
Moms with young children: Rock of Eden’s vintage dancer cameo earrings, or a pair of hammered hoop earrings are a sure thing. We did a recent survey of moms in their 30s and 40s who said they love receiving hoop earrings as a Mother’s Day gift – who would of thought?! Balancing a schedule with kids and keeping your adult relationships on par is a huge balancing act. The jewelry needs to be quick, easy and stylish.
Pregnant moms: A trendy bracelet or two with a convenient pull cord to tighten or relax is a great gift for a pregnant mom who may very likely gain and lose some weight. Other great options are an Infinity bracelet, a loved necklace, or a pair of vintage diamond, ruby and gold flower earrings. The infinity symbol means unending love. Love for a child truly is a life experience of such depth and meaning that it feels as if you are more infinitely connected to the entire human race. Flowers symbolize happiness and joy and of course flower stud earrings will last forever.
Moms with adolescents: We suggest the nine stacking rings to symbolize the abundance and gratitude of family. Or a vintage locket filled with white topaz gems for energy transformation and intuition. Adolescents start making a lot more demands of mom and energy reserves can get tapped.
Moms with teenagers: A vintage heart pendant necklace, blue spike earrings, or emerald spike earrings. Moms need to know they are still loved even though teenagers may not verballly express it as much as they used to. The heart is an endearing symbol for a mom gift if it is unique. And moms don’t want to feel uncool even though their teenagers sometimes make it seem that they are anything but. Spike earrings tell mom she is still with it!
Moms with grown kids: You are officially out of the house and on your own perhaps even making decent “bank”. It’s time to be a little indulgent with mom. Splurge on an item such as a unique vintage ring or Rock of Eden’s diamond mesh bracelet. Or a vintage purse from our Great Gatsby inspired collection.
Grandmothers: Grandmothers love photos but instead of the grandkid photos, put a photo of yourself and your mom, into a silver vintage goddess locket. Our loved necklace (available in rose gold, gold, and silver) has been a popular item for grandmothers. Every day she wears it she has a daily reminder that she is loved! Our lives are so busy while the lives of our grandmothers have often slowed to a quieter pace. Take the time to experience a favorite memory with her as part of the gift giving exchange.
Mother-in-law: Okay, best bet here is to go classic and timeless but put a little thought into it. This is not the gift to skip out on – because without her, you would have never met your beloved spouse. We suggest three silver link bracelets and an Audrey Hepburn book.
